Spaced Out

Spaced Out is a game where your speed affects how you perceive space and time.  Stand still, and everything's normal.  Start moving, and everything gets weird.

This was my submission to the 2024 MACGDC game jam!

How to get the game:

• Windows: download the zip file below.
• Other platforms: you can play the game in a browser through the Opera GX page.  Opera GX has a few small limitations compared to other platforms, but it's still a fine way to play the game.

Controls:

• Global:
  • When in a menu, press Esc to exit full screen
• Keyboard and Mouse (default):
  • Accelerate your ship with WASD
  • Aim with the Mouse
  • Fire by Clicking
  • Navigate menus with W, S, and Click
  • Pause by pressing P
• Keyboard only:
  • Accelerate your ship with WASD
  • Aim with IJKL, or else fire straight ahead
  • Fire by pressing Space
  • Navigate menus with W, S, and Space
  • Pause by pressing P
• Gamepad:
  • Accelerate your ship with the Left Stick or D-Pad
  • Aim with the Right Stick, or else fire straight ahead
  • Fire by pressing one of the triggers
  • Navigate menus with the Left Stick or D-Pad and the A Button (Nintendo-style)
  • Pause by pressing Start
